Two scientists, aircraft designer Gu Songfen and nuclear expert Wang Dazhong, won the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award on Wednesday for their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological innovation.

Gu, born in 1930 in Jiangsu province, is a renowned aircraft designer.

China's total grain reserves are currently sufficient, and stocks of wheat and rice, the two major grains, continue to increase, an official said on Wednesday.
国家粮食和物资储备局粮食储备司司长秦玉云11月3日表示,当前我国粮食库存充足,小麦和稻谷两大口粮品种库存****,国内粮食市场供应完全有保障。
Supply in the domestic grain market is fully guaranteed, said Qin Yuyun, from the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, adding that China's annual grain output in 2021 is projected to exceed 650 billion kilograms for the seventh consecutive year.
秦玉云说,今年粮食丰收已成定局,产量将连续7年**在1.3万亿斤以上。
Noting that China's current grain reserves are at a historically high level, Qin said that with several bumper harvests, the country's growing wheat stocks are sufficient to meet consumer demand for a year and a half. Mounting grain reserves can ensure China is "basically self-sufficient in grain, with the supply of staple food absolutely safe," the official said.
秦玉云表示,当前我国粮食库存处于历史高位,以小麦为例,在连年丰收形势下,库存****,目前可**1年半消费需求,确保"谷物基本自给、口粮绝对安全"。

RCEP将于明年1月1日生效
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat announced on Tuesday that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, the world's largest trade deal so far, would go into force on Jan 1, 2022. The Secretariat has received instruments of ratification from six ASEAN countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as from the four non-ASEAN signatory states of Australia, China, Japan, and New Zealand.
东盟秘书处11月2日发布通知,宣布文莱、柬埔寨、老挝、新加坡、泰国、越南等6个东盟成员国和澳大利亚、中国、日本、新西兰等4个非东盟成员国已向东盟**正式提交核准书,《区域全面经济伙伴关系协定》(RCEP)将于2022年1月1日对上述十国开始生效。RCEP是目前世界上最大的自由贸易协定。
Implementation of the agreement will provide a tremendous boost to post-COVID-19 economic recovery efforts, said the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dato Lim Jock Hoi.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has been fined $48,000 for not wearing a mask on the House floor. The House Ethics Committee publicly disclosed on Monday that Greene has been fined 20 times for not wearing a mask.
