一、mend 及物动词。意思是“缝补、修理、改善、弥补”。多指修补衣服、鞋袜等，有时可以和repair换用。例如：

I'll mend that shirt. 我要补一下那件衬衫。

He asked his mother to mend the hole in the pocket of his jeans. 他请他母亲补一下他牛仔裤口袋上的洞。

The man came to mend the wireless set. 那人来修理无线电装置。

You won't mend matters by being so impolite.你如此不礼貌是改善不了现状的。

二、repair 及物动词。意思是“修理、修补、纠正、弥补、补偿”。多指修理机械、车辆、建筑物、道路等。也可以用于修补衣服、鞋帽。例如：

Ask him to repair my watch. 要他修一下我的表。

As soon as the storm ended , we set about repairing the damage. 暴风雨一结束，我们就着手维修水毁工程。

He promised that the roof should be repaired within two days. 他答应两天内维修屋顶。

How can I repair the harm done ? 我如何才能弥补已做过的伤害。
