As the year draws to a close, we often reflect on the goals we have achieved and the ones we've fallen short on. However, the new year always brings the opportunity to start afresh and work towards new goals and aspirations. In this article, I will be discussing my English new year resolutions for the 8th grade.

Firstly, I want to improve my reading skills. I have always been an avid reader, but I feel like I have not been challenging myself enough when it comes to the books I choose. This year, I plan to read at least one challenging book every month to expand my vocabulary, improve my comprehension skills, and expose myself to different writing styles.

Secondly, I want to improve my writing skills. I have always struggled with writing, especially with grammar and style. This year, I plan to practice writing at least 300 words every day, whether it is a journal entry, a short story, or an academic essay. I will also seek feedback from my English teacher and classmates to improve my writing skills.

Thirdly, I want to improve my speaking skills. Although I am confident in my ability to speak English, I want to improve my pronunciation and fluency. This year, I plan to practice speaking English with my classmates as much as possible and to watch English-speaking movies and TV shows without subtitles to improve my listening skills.

Lastly, I want to broaden my knowledge of English-speaking cultures. As someone who lives in a non-English speaking country, I sometimes feel disconnected from the cultural references and slang used by native speakers. This year, I plan to read more books, watch more movies, and listen to more music from English-speaking countries to improve my understanding of their cultures.
